When monsters appear on Earth, Maggie MacKay is on the job. No one is better at hauling the creepy crawlies back where they belong. No one, that is, except her dad, who disappeared without a trace in the middle of an assignment.
Now an elf named Killian has shown up with a gig. Seems Maggie’s uncle teamed up with the forces of dark to turn Earth into a vampire convenience store, serving bottomless refills on humans.
The only hope for survival lies in tracking down two magical objects and a secret that disappeared with Maggie’s dad.

I loved this book, it was exactly what I needed; light hearted, fun and addictive. Maggie is tough, feisty and will do anything to protect her family, even consort with elves. She goes from one crisis to another evading bad guys with her trusty sidekick Killian, kicking butt and taking names; I love a proactive heroine!
Despite enjoying the story the only niggle I have is that I think the sexual tension between Killian and Maggie could of been developed further. Killian seems to treat Maggie as if they were in a relationship (without the sex), even though Maggie keeps her distance, unsure of his agenda. Maybe saving each others lives brings you closer but to me he just acted as if it was a done deal.
The story is well written and the chapters are short but sweet although the book is a good length. Every so often you come across an author who's writing style clicks with a reader, I enjoyed this book so much I will be looking out for future releases by Kate Danley and have also bought The Woodcutter, by the same author.
